Let's meet at Subway Nanakuma Line 'Ropponmatsu' Station. You can grab coffee at Kyushu region's largest Starbucks above the station if you like, or we can head up to our places of destination.
Please choose two places of destination from down below.
#1. Fukuoka Castle ruins ( 15min.walk from the station) and the 1200year-old guesthouse for diplomats( kind of a museum):
The castle being built at the beginning of the Edo period over 400years ago, we can enjoy seeing the 'yagura'turrets, gates and splendid stone walls, which I love most about the place. You'll be surprised how large some of the blocks are.
#2. the Ancient 'Korokan' Guesthouse:
Discovered accidentally while the city is undertaking some construction work at the then baseball field, the ancient guest house for diplomats from the Korean peninsula and China can show you the olden times of Fukuoka. You can go inside and see super interesting historical artifacts.
#3. Japanese Garden at Ohori Park
Inside Ohori Park is a beautiful traditional Japanese garden, where. you can try real matcha( not the sweetened one) while feeling the quiet ambience there.
If we have enough time, we can go for a nice 2kilometer (1.5mile) walk around the pond at the park.
#4. Fukuoka Art Museum:
The art museum boasts its wide collections of not only European artworks such as Picasso and but the 13th century wooden Buddhist statues, calligraphy works and modern arts.
Currently under the renovation, the museum will be reopened Mar.21,2019.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area, so depending on how hungry you are and how much you want to spend on your meals, we can decide on where to go😀
#5. Local cafes and restaurants:
There are quite a lot of award-winning cafes as well as bakerys and little food stalls that only locals would know in 'Ropponmatsu' Area. I can take you to some of them. Maybe you want to try 'udon' noodles and 'taiyaki', fish-shaped cake with sweetened adzuki bean paste fillings?
If you have places you'd like to go to or things you want to do other than my suggestions, please let me know, and we will discuss them.
Suggestions I’ve made are for daytime only.
