Gujo Hachiman is a town located about 60km southwest of Takayama city. It is called a little Kyoto because of its town scape. It is also known as "the water town". Rivers, waterways and spring water are so beautiful. I introduce you to hidden sightseeing spots from locals' perspectives. Please see below for the draft plan.
1. Gujo Hachiman Castle
Gujo Hachiman Castle is located on top of Mt. Hachiman and it is easy to access from Jokamachi Plaza bus stop. You can see panoramic view of Gujo Hachiman town from the summit.
2. Wear Kimono (optional, Rental: 4000 JPY/person)
Gujo Hachiman is called Little Kyoto. It means the street view of Gujo Hachiman is similar as Kyoto. It also has unique views as water town. Let's enjoy strolling and taking photos. If you want to rent a Kimono, please inform me in advance.
3. Explore water town, Gujo Hachiman
Gujo Hachiman is known as "water town" of its water resource and water familiar structure of town. Waterways are important for locals for long time. We can see many beautiful waterways here.
4. Rest in "Wa Cafe"
There are some small wa cafes (Japanese cafe) in Gujo Hachiman. They are difficult to find so I introduce one of my favorite cafe. Rest at cafe and feel Japanese ambience.
5. Food Replica Museum
Gujo Hachiman has been a center of food replica production for decades. You can find precisely manufactured food replica here and also you can buy them.
