On this tour, a local guide will lead you through the back streets of the sophisticated districts of Tokyo. You will cycle through the back streets of Yoyogi, Harajuku, Shibuya, Aoyama, and Shinjuku. Of course, you will also visit famous sites such as Takeshita Street, Hachiko statue, Shibuya crossing, Omotesando, Kabukicho, Golden-Gai, and Nishi-Shinjuku.
The tour begins in Yoyogi where we will head to Yoyogi Park. Yoyogi Park has been called the Washington Heights of Japan as it was the residential area for US Air Force families following World War II.
Our journey continues to Shibuya, a city of youth culture where Japanese and American cultures mix. We will cross the famous Shibuya Crossing where three thousand people can cross on one green light that lasts 45 seconds. You will see Hachi, a dog who has been waiting for his owner to return for ten years.
We will explore the beautiful tree lined streets of Omotesando where you will find stylish shops, cafes, and restaurants. It also has a number of buildings designed by superstar Japanese architects. Omotesando is not just about shopping. We will meet and hear the ancestral history of locals that have lived in this area for many generations.
The last destination is Shinjuku district. The Shinjuku station is the busiest railway station in the world. You will be bathed in neon lights, see towering skyscrapers, discover countless cafes, bars, shops, and restaurants, and visit Japan’s largest red-light district. Finally, the tour ends with a breathtaking view of Tokyo from a skyscraper in Nishi Shinjuku.
